Green Consumption Drives Innovation, Accelerating Sustainable Transformation in the Raffia Industry

The raffia products industry is undergoing a structural shift driven by global carbon reduction targets and increasing environmental awareness. Industry experts identify environmental performance, material traceability, and color customization capabilities as key competitive factors for manufacturers.

According to a recent report by Business Research Insights, the global Manila hemp and raffia market was valued at approximately USD 870 million in 2026 and is projected to reach USD 1.72 billion by 2035, growing at a CAGR of 8.93%. The report highlights raffia and Manila hemp as renewable and biodegradable natural fibers increasingly favored by environmentally conscious consumers.

“Clients are no longer asking only about price per kilogram. They now focus on raw material sourcing, environmental certifications, and biodegradability,” said an industry veteran.

Technological innovation is further accelerating industry upgrading. Automated production equipment improves consistency in strand width and color stability, while eco-friendly dyeing technologies enable vibrant coloration with reduced environmental impact. Meanwhile, more manufacturers are shifting from single-product supply to OEM/ODM-based solution provision.

Industry forecasts suggest that over the next five years, raffia companies with FSC/BSCI certifications, strong R&D capabilities, and responsive supply chain systems will gain a stronger competitive position in the global market.
